The Incredible Hulk (Avengers movie) Review.

This is my 99th review! Soon I will be posting the 100th Re-Review of Inception!

Thoughts: It has been around 4 years since I have seen The Incredible Hulk so I decided I needed to watch it again because The Avengers is coming soon. I did not remember much of the movie just the main plot points. It was a lot better than we remembered and Edward Norton is great as Bruce Banner. It will be unfortunate that he will not be back for The Avengers. If you are planning on seeing The Avengers you should probably watch The Incredible Hulk. Don't expect it to be better than any of the other Avengers movies but it is still a very good movie.

Directed by: Louis Leterrier
Genre: Action, Comic Book,
Release Date: June 13, 2008 (2008-06-13)
Running Time: 112 minutes
MMPA rating: PG-13

The Good: Edward Norton is the perfect Bruce Banner, Liv Tyler is also great as Betty, Some cool action scenes, A few hilarious references to the original comic and TV series,

The Bad:

Plot: The following plot summery is copied from Wikipedia.com.
During the opening credits sequence, General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (William Hurt) meets with Dr. Bruce Banner (Edward Norton), the colleague and lover of his daughter Betty (Liv Tyler), regarding an experiment, Ross says, to make humans immune to gamma radiation. The experiment, which in truth involves a serum Ross hopes will create a "super soldier", fails, transforming Banner into the Hulk (voiced by Lou Ferrigno) whenever Banner becomes angry. As the Hulk, he destroys the lab and injures Betty. Afterwards, he flees, becoming a fugitive from the United States Army.
Five years later, Banner works at a bottling factory in Rocinha, Rio de Janeiro, while searching for a cure for his condition. On the Internet, he collaborates with a colleague he knows only as "Mr. Blue", and to whom he is "Mr. Green". He is also learning meditative breathing techniques from a martial arts expert (Rickson Gracie) to help keep control, and has not transformed in 158 days. After Banner cuts his finger, a drop of his blood falls into a bottle, and is eventually ingested by a consumer (Stan Lee) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, creating medical complications. Using the bottle to trace Banner's location, Ross sends a team, led by British Royal Marine Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) to capture him. Banner transforms into the Hulk and defeats Blonsky's team. After Ross explains how Banner became the Hulk, Blonsky agrees to be injected with a small amount of the same serum, which gives him enhanced physical attributes and the side effect of making him arrogant and overconfident.
Banner returns to Culver University in Virginia, where he first became the Hulk, and reunites with Betty, who is dating psychiatrist Leonard Samson (Ty Burrell). Banner is attacked by Ross and Blonsky's forces, tipped off by the suspicious Samson. The Hulk dispatches Ross and Blonsky's team and flees with Betty. After the Hulk reverts to Banner, he and Betty go on the run. Watch the movie to see what happens next.

Plot: 8.1/10- The plot was soild and told  Bruce Banner's story well.

Action: 8.2/10- The action scene at the end was good and the there were a few other good action scenes.

Acting: 8.5/10- I really liked the cast especially Edward Norton and Liv Tyler (one my favorite actresses). I am going to mis Edward Norton playing Bruce Banner in The Avengers movie this year but hopefully Mark Ruffalo will a good job.

Special effects: 7.8/10- The special effect are a little dated compared to some of today's movies but considering the movie is four years old the effects get the job done.

Soundtrack: 7.0/10- The soundtrack was good but not near as memorable as the comic book movie soundtracks.

Comedy: 7.1/10- While there a some really funny references to the original comics and one scene with Liv Tyler's character was hilarious.

Overall: 8.3/10- Overall The Incredible Hulk is one of the better comic book movies and you should see it if you are going to see The Avengers but it is not entirely necessary

Closing comments: The Incredible Hulk is not as good as the other Avengers movies but it is still a very entertaining movie.

  1. Good review; I'm not entirely certain if we'll see this before the Avengers or not. If we get a hold of it (and convince Mom and Dad they want to see it) Than we might. :)

  2. I agree with your review for the most part. ;) I saw Hulk yesterday for the second time, and I really have no desire to see it again. Easily my least favorite Avenger, I didn't like Hulk half as much as the other Avenger movies.

I thought Bruce and Betty's relationship was cute, but honestly the entire movie seemed overly violent for me, like unnecessarily violent! :P And the villain was basically the US army! I didn't like that they made them out to be the bad guys in this film....and the General was a real idiot if you ask me. XD

Good review, and congrats on almost 100 reviews!! ;)

  3. @Jamie: It is not completely necessary to watch it before you see The Avengers. But I do not know how it much it will reference it in The Avengers since it is the least popular of The Avengers movies. Also I do not think you will like it as much as I did since I already like Hulk as a character from the comics. :)

@Jedi Chick: Thanks for the long comment. :D I agree that it is not near as good as the other Avengers movies. I thought it could have been so much better.
