Best Halloween Movies

Happy Halloween everyone! Since today is Halloween here are some great movies to watch today. Earlier this week I posted some Halloween related movie reviews, which I will have links to below. This is not really a "Best Of" list, it is more just good movies to watch if you are like myself and just do not understand why so many people like supposed "Horror Classics". Also I have just read that there will be another Star Wars film made! And it is a official statement, and I still cannot believe that is happening. As Han Solo said "I'm out of it for a little while, everybody gets delusions of grandeur." Be sure to check back tomorrow for the Two Towers Book Vs. Movie post tomorrow. One more thing, sorry if I have not replied to comments recently, my flu has gotten worse and I have not been on the computer much. But thank you everyone for your comments and best wishes.

Psycho
Alfred Hitchcock's horror, suspense, mystery thriller, classic Psycho. Hitchcock virtually invented the "Slasher" genre with Psycho and I have yet to see a better "Horror" movie than Psycho. As I said in my review yesterday, it is suspenseful, and full of shocking plot twists. Definitely a must see if you are a classic film fan. I wonder what Hitchcock would think today of all the terrible rip-offs of his classic film. Also there is a movie coming out named "Hitchcock", which a bio-pic of him making the classic Psycho, however the trailer completely spoils the major plot twist of the movie, I would not recommend watching the trailer until after watching the movie.

Jaws
One of Steve Speilberg best, Jaws revolutionized the film making with the "Jaws Effect". Were the camera only shows some of the creature to create mystery and terror, which at the time it was considered a very scary movie. Although it loses suspense upon multiple viewings, and is much more of an adventure thriller than anything else, Jaws is still a fantastic movie that is another must see for film fans. If you have yet to see Jaws you are missing out on a classic. And how can we forget John Willaims' iconic soundtrack, which is what makes Jaws truly suspenseful.

Ghostbusters
While Ghostbusters is not in anyway a "Horror" movie, it is about capturing ghosts. Ghostbusters is just a really fun movie, easily one of the best comedies I have seen. It is packed with so many quotable lines and clever dialogue it is hard not to recommend.
Ghostbusters Review.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Invasion of the Body Snatchers, more specifically the 1978 version with Donald Sutherland. Although I have not the seen the original, this version is smart, thrilling and a little creepy. While Invasion of the Body Snatchers is not quite in the same caliber of film as the movies listed above, if you like sci-fi thrillers it is definitely recommended. Note: This is not for the younger audience, although at the time was rated "PG" it would definitely earn an "R" rating today.

Harry Potter Saga
While it is far from anything that resembles horror, there are some Halloween type elements in the series. As a whole the Harry Potter series is one of the best. Although I was not really fan until the last four, they were awesome. The final installment "The Deathly Hallows Part 2" is one of my all-time favorite movies. Definitely check out the series if you do not have any problem with the "magic".
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Review.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Review.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Review.

Psycho (1960) Review.

Thoughts: To continue with the Halloween countdown here is the review for Psycho, Alfred Hitchcock’s horror thriller classic. Although the movie starts a little slow, it has some of the most shocking plot twists and “Edge-of-your-seat” suspense you will ever see in a movie. I am not a fan of the horror genre however, Alfred Hitchcock has directed many of my favorite movies but Psycho is not exactly a horror movie despite what some would say. It is more of suspense, thriller with a mystery tied into the plot. Also Psycho was really the first "Horror Slasher" movie, even if you dislike horror movies like I do, Psycho is still recommended to any classic film fan. The only real problem with Psycho is the very slow first half, it was starting to be a disappointment but I am glad that I finished the movie because the pay off was well worth it. While many consider this a "Horror" movie, it was not scary at, however it was suspenseful and sometimes very creepy in a good way. There is a lot to say about Psycho but that would spoil the movie.

Directed by: Alfred Hitchcock
Genre: Suspense, Thriller, Horror, Mystery
Release Date: June 16, 1960
Running Time: 109 minutes
MMPA rating: R

The Good: Very suspenseful, Incredibly shocking plot twists, Iconic soundtrack, Fantastic performance by Anthony Perkins,

The Bad: Slow first half,

Warning: Psycho is rate "R" for violence and other mature content, although it would probably be PG-13 today.

Note: If you want a full non-spoiled experience, I recommend not watching the trailer below.

Plot: The following plot summery is copied from Wikipedia.com.
In need of money to help her divorced boyfriend Sam Loomis (John Gavin), Phoenix secretary Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) steals $40,000 from one of her employer's clients and flees in her car. En route to Sam's California home, she parks along the road to sleep. A highway patrol officer awakens her, becomes suspicious of her agitated state and begins to follow her. When she trades her car for another one at a car dealership, he notes the new vehicle's details. By the time Marion returns to the road, there is a heavy rainstorm which prompts her to spend the night at the Bates Motel rather than drive in the rain.
Owner Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) tells Marion he rarely has customers because of his location along an older, less-traveled highway, and mentions he lives with his mother in the house overlooking the motel. He then shyly invites Marion to have supper with him. She overhears Norman arguing with his mother about his supposed sexual interest in Marion, and during the meal, Marion angers him by suggesting he institutionalize his mother. He admits he would like to do so, but does not want to abandon her. Watch the movie to see what happens next.

Plot: 8.8/10- The first half is very slow and drags, but the second half is excellent and suspenseful. Also Psycho has some of the most memorable and shocking moments I have seen in a movie.

Action: N/A- While there is not any action, there obviously are deaths.

Acting: 8.5/10- Anthony Perkins gave an excellent performance and Janet Leigh was good as well. The other cast members also gave great performances.

Special effects: N/A-

Soundtrack: 9.8/10- While the soundtrack is not all great to listen to by its self, the way it adds suspense to the scenes is amazing.

Comedy: 5.0/10- One or two humorous lines.

Would I Watch This Again: Because the whole movie hinges on not knowing what is going to happen next, there is no suspense in a second viewing. Since it is a classic, I will watch it again at some time.

Overall: 8.8/10- Despite the slow first half, Psycho has enough pay off and plot twists to definitely be worth your time.

Closing comments: Even if you do not like horror movies, I highly recommend it for any classic film fan.

Recommended for: Suspense fans, Thriller fans, Horror fans, Mystery fans, Alfred Hitchcock fans,

Clone Wars: Tipping Points Review

Finally the Onderonian story is over! Although I did enjoy last week's "Soft War", I vastly overrated the episode and have now changed the score to 8.4/10. But "Tipping Points" almost made this four episode story arc worth it.
Warning this post contains complete spoilers for the episode "Tipping Points".
Wow! Just The Clone Wars did exactly what I was hoping, they killed off Steela. While I very much liked the character, I was hoping that the story arc would end with her death to give the arc something memorable and it was more than satisfying. As The Clone Wars team said at CVI, this episode was inspired by Avatar in terms of the creatures and the look of Onderon and even though I am far from a fan of the movie, it did have some impressive visuals. One of my favorite characters, Hondo, made a short but effective appearance, which was fun to see.
"Tipping Points" really packed a lot into one episode but it never felt like it was too much. The battle was impressive and the animation was again top notch. The character drama worked well and Lux has started to become more likable now.
Steela's death was handled brilliantly, I was wondering the entire scene if she was going to make it. At one point I figured Ahsoka would eventually save her but the end were she actually fell to her death was kind of shocking. I did not think The Clone Wars team had the guts to do it, yet they have surprised me again. The ending was great with Steela's funeral and the Onderonians finally winning their freedom.
Overall 9.2/10- Overall "Tipping Points" is definitely my favorite episode of the season thus far, however it is not one of the best of the series.

Now as for the story arc as a whole, it was entertaining and had its moments but it never reach the heights of many of the other story arcs, it has been one of the weaker four part story arcs of the series.
Although I would not say that season 5 is disappointing, it has yet to blow me away like the Krell arc did last season. "Revival" was cool but lacked a little in story and the other episodes from this arc.

Overall Story Arc: 8.0/10- Ultimately this arc serves to develop Ahsoka's and Lux's characters, but it could have been shortened to three episodes.

These past few episodes about the Rebels has made me think about how old are Ahsoka, Steela, Lux and Saw? If anyone knows I would appreciate it if you would comment below.

Avengers Item 47 Review.

Item 47 is a Marvel One Shot that is included on The Avengers Blu-Ray. It is 12 minutes long, which is much longer than any of Marvel's previous short films. The One Shot takes place shortly after the eve nts of The Avengers were a own-on-their-luck couple find a discarded Chitauri gun referred to as "Item 47" and decide to rob a some banks. Item 47 is humorous in a very Joss Whedon type way and overall excellent. Although it has not been confirmed, it seems like a test pilot for the upcoming "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series and hope that they will include these characters in the series. While the run-time is short, it really set-up the characters well, and provided some great humor. It is included on The Avengers Blu-Ray, unfortunately it is not included on the DVD of the film.

Overall: 9.6/10- Overall Item 47 is a very fun short and I hope that these character will be featured in the "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series.

Note: Sorry if I have not replied to e-mails recently because I caught some kind of bad flu but I will continue to post and comment.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Review.

To continue with the Halloween countdown, here is the review for Invasion of the Body Snatchers, also be sure to check back tomorrow for my review of The Avengers DVD.
Thoughts: Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a remake of the 1956 with the same name, which is based on a book named "The Body Snatchers". I have not seen the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers and had little to no knowledge of either film prior to watching it. However, the remake is considered by many to be just as good, if not better than the original.
The basic premise is that some form of space parasite lands on earth of replaces people with emotionless clones of themselves. While I very much dislike horror films in general with the exception of Psycho and Jaws, Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a horror film in some respects. Yet it more like a combination of sci-fi, suspense, conspiracy, and horror, creating a unique and creepy hybrid. I have not seen a movie like Invasion of the Body Snatchers before, it is one of the most original sci-fi movies I have seen. While the film starts slowly it builds an eerie sense of suspense and eventually leading to a creepy final act. Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a very intelligent with a almost realistic take on an alien invasion. Also this is not a "fun" movie, it is almost depressing but it works in making the movie better.

Directed by: Philip Kaufman
Genre: Sci-Fi, Suspense, Horror, Conspiracy Thriller,
Release Date: December 20, 1978
Running Time: 115 minutes
MMPA rating: PG (would be PG-13 or R today)

The Good: Genuinely creepy, Many plot twists and turns, Suspenseful,

The Bad:

Note: Although it was rated "PG" at the time of its release, it would definitely be rated PG-13 or even R today.

Plot: The following plot summary is copied from Wikipedia.com.
The film opens out in deep space, where a race of gelatinous creatures abandon their dying world. Pushed through the universe by the solar winds, they make their way to Earth and land in San Francisco. Some fall on plant leaves, assimilating them and forming small pods with pink flowers. Elizabeth Driscoll (Brooke Adams), an employee at the San Francisco health department, is one of several people who brings a flower home. The next morning, Elizabeth's partner, Geoffrey Howell (Art Hindle), suddenly becomes distant, and she senses that something is wrong. Her colleague, health inspector Matthew Bennell (Donald Sutherland), suggests that she see his friend, psychiatrist Dr. David Kibner (Leonard Nimoy). Kibner suggests that Elizabeth wants to believe that Geoffrey has changed because she is looking for an excuse to get out of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Matthew's friend Jack Bellicec (Jeff Goldblum), a struggling writer who owns a mud bath with his wife Nancy (Veronica Cartwright), discovers a deformed body on one of the beds and calls Matthew to investigate. Noticing that the body (which has adult features but lacks distinguishing characteristics) bears a slight resemblance to Jack, Matthew breaks into Elizabeth's home and finds a nearly complete double of her in the bedroom garden. He is able to get Elizabeth to safety, but the duplicate body has disappeared by the time he returns with the police.
Matthew realizes that what is happening is extraterrestrial, not realizing that Dr. Kibner has also been changed. He calls several state and federal agencies, but they all tell him not to worry. In addition, people who had earlier claimed that their loved ones had changed seem to have been converted as well. Watch the movie to see what happens next.

Plot: 8.2/10- Although Invasion of the Body Snatchers has a slow building plot, the third act is "nail-bitingly" suspenseful. There are some unexpected plot twists thrown in to keep the audience on their toes and there are a few moments were I was actually startled to a point.

Action: N/A- While there some running and people being chased, it is not an action movie.

Acting: 7.7/10- Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy and Veronica Cartwright all gave good solid performances, there was no noticeably weak actor at any point.

Special effects: 8.0/10- Although Invasion of the Body Snatchers never uses anything too difficult to achieve, what is used works effectively.

Soundtrack: 7.3/10- The soundtrack an eerie feeling to the film, which added tension and a state of paranoia.

Comedy: N/A-

Would I Watch This Again: Because the movie relies on suspense and plot twists, it would not be near as effective on a second viewing, but I will definitely watch the original version of the film.

Overall: 7.9/10- Overall Invasion of the Body Snatchers is intruging, sometimes suspenseful and creepy, sci-fi thriller.

Closing comments: If you like classic sci-fi and want to see a intelligent thriller you would probably enjoy Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Recommended for: Sci-Fi fans, Suspense fans, Horror fans, Conspiracy Thriller fans,
Warning This is Not for the Younger Audience.

Ghostbusters Review.

Before I continue with the Halloween Countdown, I have changed Friday's post from Trivia to a review of The Avengers "Item 47" short film review and the trivia will be moved to Sunday.
Thoughts: "Who you gonna call?" "Ghostbusters!" That's right, today's review for the Halloween countdown is Ghostbusters. I watched Ghostbusters when I was a kid and I did not remember really liking the movie that much but after watching it again, I really enjoyed it. It was fun, clever, and hilarious at times. Although it is not funniest comedy I have seen, it one of the best comedies because of the original plot and well written characters. But that is not to say it was not hilarious, that are so many memorable lines and jokes and it had perfect combination of of jokes and other forms of humor. It strikes the perfect balance between humor and seriousness, which works brilliantly.

Directed by: Ivan Reitman
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Adventure Comedy,
Release Date: June 7, 1984
Running Time: 105 minutes
MMPA rating: PG

The Good: Hilarious jokes, Great theme song, Clever and original plot, Good special effects, Witty and humorous dialogue, Memorable quotes, Perfect ending, So much ridiculous fun to watch,

The Bad:

Note: Although it was rated  PG in 1984, it would definitely be rated PG-13 today.

Plot: The following plot summery is copied from Wikipedia.com.
After their first encounter with an actual parapsychological phenomenon (a ghost) and losing their academic positions at Columbia University before they can follow up on their discovery, a trio of misfit parapsychologists — Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Raymond Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) – establish a paranormal exterminator service known as "Ghostbusters" at a retired New York City firehouse. While still facing dire straits after setting up the company, they are summoned by the Sedgewick Hotel to investigate a haunting. At the hotel, they capture their first ghost and deposit it in a "containment unit" located in the basement of their office. Paranormal activity soon increases in New York City, and the Ghostbusters become celebrities containing it, while at the same time becoming increasingly burdened by the hectic schedule. To satisfy increased demand, they hire a fourth member, Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson). Watch the movie to see what happens next.

Plot: 9.6/10- Ghostbusters might have the best plot I have seen in a comedy. There was a good balance of plot and humor despite the somewhat ridiculous premise it can almost be taken seriousness. The script is strong and well written, and the pacing is perfect, always something fun and funny happening.

Action: 6.3/10- Although it is a comedy, Ghostbusters had a few scenes were they were fight and capturing ghosts but it was mostly for humor, which worked is one of things that make it great.

Acting: 9.2/10- Bill Murray's deadpan performance is fantsatic and almost steals the show.  Sigourney Weaver was also great in her role as well as Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Rick Moranis all gave good comical performances.

Special effects: 8.7/10- Although some of the effects are a little dated, most of the effects hold up surprisingly well considering its age.

Soundtrack: 9.7/10- The "Ghostbusters" song is my favorite song from any movie and I have even liked it before watching the movie. The licensed music used adds to the movie, unlike many other movies were they only serve to distract.

Comedy: 9.6/10- Although it is not the flat out funniest movie I have ever seen, there are plenty of quotable lines and memorable jokes. Ghostbusters has some of the best written comical dialogue I have seen in a movie and every actor delivers expertly. There are so many memorable lines and scenes from the movie

Would I Watch This Again: This is definitely worth a re-watch sometime. Probably will watch it again on Halloween.

Overall: 9.3/10- Overall Ghostbusters in an excellent mix of humor, original story, and hilarious jokes. Easily one of the best comedy ever made.

Closing comments: Ghostbusters is pure fun to watch, I had a large grim on my face throughout most of the movie. "Who you gonna call?" "Ghostbusters!"

Recommended for: Comedy fans, Fantasy fans, Sci-Fi fans,

Iron Man 3 Trailer! And Posting Schedule.

The Iron Man 3 trailer is finally here and it looks awesome so far. Before I was not a fan of the new color for the Armor but so far I actually like it. From the reports, the movie will be based on the Extremis comic book run and this trailer does show it. Extremis is a virus that gives Tony the ability to control his armor directly with his mind as well as other forms of the electronics. The trailer appears to be darker, which should be great and Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin looks great also. Hopefully this will have  the right amount of inward struggle and large scale action to be truly great and top the original Iron Man. What do you think about this trailer? Please comment below. Also below are some pictures and my posting schedule for this week. The Two Towers: Book Vs. Movie should finally be finished for next week.
Wednesday: Ghostbusters
Thursday: Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Friday: Trivia
Saturday: Clone Wars Review
Sunday: Halloween Epic Film Score and More
Monday: Psycho Review
Tuesday: Best Halloween Movies
Wednesday: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Book Review
Thursday: The Two Towers: Book Vs. Movie
Friday: Skyfall in One Week

The Mandarin, play by Ben Kingsley.

Halloween Countdown and Star Wars Update!

First let’s start with the Star Wars update. If everything goes as planned I will be making a list of the Top 25 Lightsaber Battles throughout all of Star Wars, including battles from the movies, TV shows and even a few video games.
Now on to the Halloween countdown! I am not really a fan of Halloween. While I did dress-up and go trick-or-treating when I was 13, I have never cared much for it. However, it seemed like the perfect time for Halloween time movie reviews! Horror is one of my least favorite genres, it has never appealed to me, although there are some movies that can be considered "Horror" that I do enjoy or movies with the theme of ghosts, monsters ect. And on Halloween, I make a list of good movies to watch that might just give you the chills, yet are intelligent or just fun to watch. As for the movies I will be reviewing this week and the next: Ghostbusters, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and Psycho. While I am not exactly sure when I will post the reviews for Ghostbusters and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) it will be this week this week, I will be posting my review for Psycho Monday before Halloween. What do you think of my Halloween plans? Please comment below.

I've Been Tagged!

I have been tagged by Helen at The Life of a Musician and Dancer and Shena Tokala at Pens, Thespians and Words.

First thing is to post 11 random things about myself.
1: I just finished The Last Command and it was awesome!
2: My favorite Star Wars characters list has changed drastically since making my previous list Top 30 Star Wars character list last year. And I plan to eventually make a list of my Top 100 Star Wars characters.
3: I have been surprised by how many homeschoolers are on blogger.
4: I can't stand watching any musicals!
5: I'm not very good at writing random facts about myself.
6: I have pre-ordered the Halo 4: Collector's Edition.
7: Grand Admerial Thrawn is one of my favorite Star Wars villains.
8: I dislike most horror movies.
9: Mara Jade is another one of my new favorite Star Wars characters.
10: I am running out of random facts about myself to write.
11: My favorite comedy is Seinfeld.

Here are the questions from Helen and Shena Tokala

Helen's questions.
1) Out of all the Marvel Super Hero movies you have seen, what one is your favorite and why?
Obviously it has to be The Avengers! Nothing even comes close.

2) What is your favorite genre of music?
Film soundtrack and most music without lyrics

3)What is your favorite time of day? (morning, afternoon, evening, night)
Definitely morning, I always like waking early.

4) What is your favorite movie?
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back! No question, my favorite movie ever followed by Star Wars (1977)

5) What are your top five soundtracks?
Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, The Avengers, and probably the Danny Elfman Spider-Man score.

6) What is your dream life?
Although unrealistic, I would want to be a professional film critic.

7) What is/was your favorite subject in school and why?
Math and Computer Science because I those are my best subjects.

8) If you could go anywhere in the world but you had three seconds to decide, where would you go?
The pre-screening of The Hobbit!

9) Who would you prefer to live with: Hobbits or Elves?
Elves because I'm far too tall to live with Hobbits.

10) Would you rather be in the Hunger Games or a Gladiator fight and why?
The Hunger Games because there a lot of really stupid kids that I could out smart except Katniss. A good example of of this would in the video below.

11) Han Solo or Iron Man?
Iron Man is awesome but Han Solo is the best hero ever.

Shena's questions.
1: What are your top five favorite TV shows
The Clone Wars, Doctor Who, Stargate SG-1, Seinfeld and Stargate Atlantis.

2: If you could co-star with any actor, who would it be?
Harrison Ford, but I can't act.

3: Which of your favorite books would you like to see be made into a movie?
The Thrawn trilogy! It is killing me that it will probably never be made into a movie!

4: Which actor would you like to see me co-star with?
Ewan McGregor, because I know she would love that.

5: Which Star Wars book is your favorite?(if you don't read the EU, which Clone Wars episode is your favorite?)
The Thrawn Trilogy Including: Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command. I would even go as far to say that they are better than the Prequel trilogy.

6: Harry Potter or The Hunger Games and why?
Harry Potter! The Hunger Games was disappointing and lacked likable characters. However, after the first two Harry Potter films, it really turned in an awesome franchise. While I have not read the books, the movies are great and the characters are likable.

7: What is your favorite song?
"Johnny B. Goode" by John Berry. Also I really like the version used in Back to the Future.

8: Which member of The Clone Wars cast would you like to meet?
So hard to choose! A tie between Anthony Daniels, because he was the only person that was actually in the original trilogy, and Tom Kane because he also voiced some other characters I like.

9: Which member of the Star Wars Saga cast would you like to meet?
Harrison Ford!

10: What is the worst movie you have ever seen?
That is a hard question because I have seen a lot of terrible movies but here is a short list: Batman and Robin, Catwoman, The Bobo, and Batman Forever.

11: What is your opinion on Satele Shan?
While I do not know a lot about her except that she is a descended of the Jedi Master Bastila Shan and Revan. But the trailer with her in it was awesome.

Here are my questions
1: Who is your favorite Avenger?
2: What is the best movie you have seen this year?
3: What movie are you most looking forward to next year?
4: What is your opinion of Alfred Hitchcock's films?
5: What is your favorite movie made before 1959?
6: What is your favorite western?
7: What is your opinion of the Star Wars Expanded Universe (if you are not really a Star Wars fan, what is your favorite Star Wars movie?)
8: Do you like answering random questions and writing random facts about yourself?
9: Bing, Google or Yahoo, which is your favorite searcg engine?
10: What is your favorite film genre?
11: What is your favorite video game?

Since I am not sure how has been tagged, any of the followers who are interested can try the Tag.

Clone Wars: The Soft Wars

After Last Week's overall impressive episode, I had higher hopes for "The Soft War" and it did not disappoint. It opened with an attack followed by a declaration of freedom by Steela, which was very clever how it was done. Warning the following contains complete spoilers for the episode.

Finally the story arc had the perfect balanced of action, story, and characters. Oddly, the cloaks for the Saw and Lux looked excellent compared to the odd Jedi cloaks. Just in terms of the visuals, I was very impressed, probably the best looking episode of the season. Everything had a very lived-in gritty style which worked excellently. The strike by the Rebels at the execution was my favorite moment of the episode; the chaos of the attack was captured perfectly by the camera angles and the way it was animated. Again the episode deals with the theme of terrorism and rebellion paving the way for future rebellion. I can really see Lux and Steela becoming an important part of the Rebel Alliance during the Rebellion Era; it would be very cool if their characters could incorporate in some way. I liked Ahsoka a lot in the episode; I thought she would do the predictable thing and help the Rebels anyway. Waiting until later really built up the suspense and I almost thought at one point that the former King was going to actually be executed. It is times like that were Alfred Hitchcock's principle of suspense is used well shows that the series is really progressing into a better quality of directing. The line of dialogue between Ahsoka and Lux was interesting and still the audience guessing as how their relationship will progress as well as what Steela said to Lux. Although I thought the facial express were very well animated this episode, Jacob on the hand was not so impressed. Also I noticed that the Onderonian General looked surprisingly like Captain Pellaeon from the Thrawn Trilogy books, if anyone knows his name please comment below with it. It would be greatly appreciated.

Overall 8.4/10- While "The Soft War" is not in the same league as classic Clone Wars episodes like "Rookies", it might just be the best episode of the season thus far, "Impressive, most impressive."

Avengers News!

Recently there has been a lot of Avengers news that has been released for its many related films including: Thor: The Dark World official synopsis, Ant-Man movie release date, and new member in The Avengers sequel.

First off, Edgar Wright's Ant-Man will be released November 6, 2015. I am actually glad that it will release after The Avengers 2, so he will not be in the next Avengers. Because there should not be too many heroes in one movie, it would possibly lose the balance of screen time. I am still surprised that he will be getting a movie yet I am glad.

Now the character Ms. Marvel (currently under the name "Captain Marvel"), could be introduced in the Guardians of the Galaxy or Captain America: The Winter Soldier considering her SHIELD background. She is probably the best character that could be added to the Avengers because Ms. Marvel is a powerhouse of sorts, not quite as powerful as Thor but could easily hold her own in a fight. Her general powers are:
superhuman strength, endurance, stamina, flight, physical durability, a limited precognitive "sixth sense", and a perfectly amalgamated human/Kree physiology that rendered her resistant to most toxins and poisons, with the added effect of making her body virtually invulnerable and indestructible.
However, I am not a fan of the actresses that are up for the role. There is a video below with more details about and I mostly agree with her opinion for the choice in the role.

The plot synopsis below does not give away any real spoilers but so far I am very much excited to see the film. Hopefully it will live up to the high standards set by the first Thor movie.

Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Thor: The Dark World is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery “ #83 in August, 1962.
Thor: The Dark World is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Epic Film Score and More Plus Answers.

A few weeks ago I had a "Name That Movie Soundtrack!" contest, which JT at The Window on the South and JT's Tales was the only person to answer correctly. The answer to the it was Back to the Future, one of my favorite movies featuring one of my favorite film scores by the great Alan Silvestri. Below is the main theme from the movie as well as two of the great songs used in the movie. If you have not seen Back to the Future, do yourself a favor and go watch it now. It is one of the most ridclously fun movies you will ever see. Also expect a Name That Movie Soundtrack! contest coming up later this week or the next. If you have not read my review for this week's Clone Wars episode, Clone Wars "Front Runners" Review. please click on the link to do so.

Here is the main theme for the movie that I used for the Name That Movie Soundtrack! contest.

In the movie the character Marty McFly actually sings what one of my favorite songs, "Johnny B. Goode", original sung by John Berry. I even like this version better than the original.

Here is the song "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News, that was used in the movie.

He's Back for SHIELD TV Series!

Warning major Avengers spoilers ahead!
Breaking news! At the New York Comic-Con it has been confirmed that Agent Coulson is going to be staring the up-coming SHIELD TV series! As everyone how watched The Avengers knows, it was his heroic sacrifice formed The Avengers in possibly the best death scene ever filmed. It is unclear how Coulson will be back, the series could be set before The Avengers or Coulson could be brought back to life in some way. While I am still skeptical about his return considering how powerful his death was, if it is handled well I will go with it, plus the series will a lot better with Clark Gregg on it. What do you think of this reveal? Please comment below.
